North Carolina Marital Life Estates (North Carolina Is Not a Community Property State)

Greg Goosmann of Goosmann Rose Colvard, & Cramer, P.A., the real estate firm that I personally use, recently reminded me that when a married couple is selling a property in North Carolina and one of the spouses is not an owner, not on the title, a small issue needs to be addressed.

This is an issue related to the marital life estate created under North Carolina law. A real estate attorney can shepherd you through the process and make certain the correct language is included in the documentation for closing. If these circumstances apply to you, I recommend you give Greg’s law firm a call (828) 258-0150
